Smart Money for Savvy Teens – Making your money managing a snap!

In these uncertain times it is more important than ever for students to learn the fundamentals of money management, saving, and investing. For maximum benefit of young people, investor education must be taught early, often and well.

Smart Money for Savvy Teens introduces students (grades 9 – 12) to the world of investing, with its abundant opportunities and ever present risks. The focus is on strategies for investing for long term, as part of an overall approach to financial planning that empowers young people to take control of their own financial futures.

The lessons provide active learning experience to help students master the basics of investing. The language of financial markets, gathering information on investments, the nature of financial institutions in the U.S. economy, stocks, bonds, mutual funds, risk management and financial planning are taught through dynamic class discussions and simulations.

In the wake of the financial crisis of 2008 and the recession of 2007-2009, financial distress and systematic risk have become much more predominant. The program incorporates what has been learned in the recent financial turmoil.

The program teaches the fundamental principles of wealth building that have held up well over time.

One exciting feature of this outstanding program is that we provide parent reports for each lesson plan. Research shows that students learn a considerable amount of their economic decision-making abilities from their parents. YLTA is committed to assist parents in the practical education of their children. The reports are informative and instructive for both students and parents.

Students taking this program will tremendously benefit for years to come.

This program meets state and national standards for economics, mathematics and personal finance.
